about

In ‘I Remember Your Scars’ you may discern subtle undertones of Floyd - Keith Floyd to be precise. It’s about a night’s drinking. Doesn’t matter where. Drunk is a place per se, both in an of itself. The “two builders with guitars” are a real-life cabaret duo, regulars on the Llanelli club circuit. Their version of ‘Ever Fallen in Love..’ by the Buzzcocks is actually rather good.

lyrics

I Remember Your Scars

An impression of park railings a souvenir of pain
Some documentary footage of the street after the rain
Reflecting the brake lights of disappearing cars
Connecting the fake acts in the nightclubs and the bars
Singing ‘Ever Fallen in Love’, two builders with guitars
A hazy recollection but I remember your scars
Here’s the loose change from a spent hurricane
The tail-end of a wet night, the view from down the drain
For the sake of a rhyme I would describe the stars
But besides the drink and laughter the details are sparse
Singing ‘Ever Fallen in Love’, two builders with guitars
A hazy recollection but I remember your scars
The streets were still vibrating after heavy downpours
I can’t even recall your name but I remember your scars
