lyrics

‘Hey, Mrs O’Shea, I’m popping into town today,
Is there anything I can get for you while I’m down that way?’
‘If you’re going near Falcon Music, get me the latest Alvin Stardust.
Wait, I’ll get my purse, hang on, I won’t be a jiffy’.

‘What a waste of money’, barked her overbearing husband.
‘Well, it’s my pay’, cried Mrs O’Shea.
Her other half was not impressed, he didn’t like the way that Alvin dressed:
‘I’m telling you, I’d give that waster “Coo Ca Choo”’.

Hey, Mrs O’Shea was resolute.
She said: ‘I’d like to see him in his birthday suit.
Why don’t you back off, “Back off Bogaloo”?
It’s a shame those leather trousers are not see through’.

So, he said: ‘What about The Sweet? And those weirdos who did Tiger Feet?
Men dressing up as women, it’s just not right’.
She said: ‘Where’s the fun in you? Here boy, that’s for Coo Ca Choo
And get yourself something for going, a comic or an ice cream if you like’.

She often walked up to Rehoboth
Past the ruins of the toll booth
And imagined taking Alvin by the leather-encased hand
She often walked up to Rehoboth
Past the ruins of the toll booth
To where men dressed up as women once made a courageous stand

Hey, Mrs O’Shea
Everything will be okay
The dinosaurs have had their day,
Hey, Mrs O’Shea.
